Cospendium SSBU Community League set to launch

Following the success of their recent Super Smash Bros Ultimate (SSBU) tournament, Kanga Esports announced yesterday (June 8th) the launch of the Cospendium SSBU Community League - a monthly tournament with a live event set to be held on January 30th next year in collaboration with CouchWarriors and Kanga Esports. 


As per the title, Kanga Esports has partnered with Cospendium to launch this tournament. Cospendium is a newly established cosplay and gaming convention set to be held in Melbourne from the 30th to 31st of January next year - with the Cospendium SSBU Community League Finals headlining at the event. 


Event hosts, Cospendium, state on their website “the convention will represent all aspects of the video games space - stalls, esports tournaments, new games and the pros. The gaming area will be packed with the most exciting and innovative exhibitors. Leading companies, ground backing technologies and new products will be showcased. Make sure you get along and trial the latest and greatest in gaming.”

Each month contestants in the SSBU Community League will compete online for cash prizes, weekend passes to the Cospendium and a gaming chair provided by Zenox Gaming Chairs. Contestants competing at the live event will be competing for a prize pool of $4,000 AUD. 


Hayden Shiels, Founder and Managing Director of Kanga Esports, provided a statement to Here’s The Thing which reads "I am extremely excited to be a part of this awesome partnership between Cospendium, CouchWarriors, and Kanga Esports.”


“The local Super Smash Bros community consists of some of the most passionate gamers in the region and after a HUGE 352 players competing in our first tournament, we were very eager to bring them something more structured to look forward to,” continued Mr. Shiels. 


Shiels concluded by stating “with Monthly online tournaments, cash/products from sponsors and a huge live event in January, means there will be something for everyone.”


Broadcasts of the SSBU Community League can be found via the CouchWarriors Twitch account on the third weekend of every month leading up to the live finals.
