Announced on July 15th was the news that Erin “Ezza” Hughes has signed on full-time with one of Australasia’s leading tournament organisers as their Lead Administrator for the foreseeable future, LetsPlay.Live (LPL).
Erin has been a longstanding member and a strong advocate for the local Playerunknown’s Battleground (PUBG) scene since the dawn of time with the title and has gone on to manage numerous teams both locally and overseas.
Outside of team management, Erin has hosted a variety of tournaments in Australasia on behalf of and or alongside third party organisers, which has ensured that she will be bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role at LetsPlay.Live.
We had the opportunity to hear from an excited Erin ahead of starting her new role. She spoke to us about how she has been following the progress of the company for quite sometime now, whilst also touching on how she intends to use this role to benefit both the company and the region as a whole.
“I don't think I can describe just how excited I am to be a part of the LetsPlay.Live family. I have been following LPL in regards to their growth and impact in the ANZ esports landscape since they formed in 2017 and I've known the management team quite well for a few years now.”
“Because of this, I knew the team before I started and I knew I would be surrounded by an extremely talented and knowledgeable team, who continually deliver awesome esport and gaming experiences. I have only been here a week and a half now, but during this time I have seen how LPL is impacting and shaping the ANZ esports landscape. I want to be a part of this impact and I know I am by working within this talented team.”
“I am truly excited to utilise my experience and knowledge I've gained in my various roles in esports and gaming to get involved and stuck in with the leagues and events in LPL to help elevate them to another level. From my limited time here I can say that there are a lot of exciting things coming up in the ANZ region, which I wish I could share but sadly cannot right now. I'm excited for the future of gaming and esports in New Zealand and I am honoured and proud I can be a part of a team that helps lead it.” - Erin Hughes, LetsPlay.Live Lead Administrator
News of Erin joining LetsPlay.Live follows the departure of longstanding staff member, Amy Potter, who took on various roles within the company over the past few years. Amy has taken on a new role within the gaming industry, but is yet to make an announcement publicly as to where that may be.
LetsPlay.Live has seen a surge in success over the past year or so, with one of their major highlights being the hosts for Oceania’s path to the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS). Currently they host a wide variety of leagues across multiple titles, which Erin will more than likely be taking lead on growing these leagues out in the region.
We wish Erin all the best with her new role and look forward to seeing what she can bring to LPL. If you wish to follow her progress, you can connect with her on Twitter.
