Following the recent departure of Apex Legends player Louis “BulletL” Borg, Dire Wolves and their CSGO roster have also parted ways, with the team’s contracts coming to an end and no renewals being made.

Players Benson “Liki” Niuila, and Mike “ap0c” Aliferis, took to Twitter to comment on the situation, with Benson stating it was “time for a new home.” Mike informed the community that the team is “definitely sticking together – we have a mutual goal and are confident in achieving [them].”

While this may be a wrench in the works of the Dire Wolves’ plan to “grow the oceanic powerhouse”, Dire Wolves General Manager, Craig Nimmo, said in a statement to RushBMedia that they “would certainly be interested in bringing in another line up in a developmental capacity.”

The core roster, consisting of players Mike "ap0c" Aliferis, Euan “sterling” Moore, and Jared “HaZR” O’Bree, had only recently begun representing the Dire Wolves banner following the acquisition of AVANT Gaming in February 2017, with Ap0c parting ways soon after before returning in July. The acquisition included both their Counter-Strike roster and newly formed Legends Circuit Oceania (LCO) spot, which was sold to Peace.gg to stay in line with the LCO’s ruling surrounding multiple teams.

After leaving the AVANT roster in 2019 and reuniting with the roster under Dire Wolves in May 2020, coach Matthew "dayV1D" David has also stated he will be parting ways with the players as he seeks other opportunities.

The roster is currently ranked 2nd in the HLTV Oceanic regional rankings, following a dominant season where they became champions of both LPL Pro League 2021 seasons, and are sitting comfortably in 2nd place in season 13 of the ESL ANZ Championships behind Order, who defeated them in the finals of season 12.

The roster moving into September:

  • Jared “HaZR” O’Bree
  • Euan “sterling” Moore
  • Benson “Liki” Niuila
  • James “SaVage” Savage
  • Mike “ap0c” Aliferis
