Counter Strike Power Rankings, July 2nd

July 2, 2020

Our Counter-Strike: Global Offensive panelists are:

1. Renegades (-)

“The team that was once soaring seems to have their wings clipped, as we finally see some cracks forming in the superstar lineup. Renegades are still certainly on top of the domestic scene, but a few recent losses have shown the boys are only human. Hopefully, the player break allows for some much needed R&R so they can reset and continue their domination of our region.”

- GeordieMacMcAleer

Recent Results:

  • 1:3 vs ORDER (ESL AUNZ S11)
  • 2:0 vs TWA (ESL AUNZ S11)
  • 2:0 vs Paradox (ESL AUNZ S11)
  • 2:0 vs Avant (ESL AUNZ S11)

Active Roster: dexter, sico, INS, malta and Hatz

2. ORDER (+1)

“Order is on the rise again! A recent string of positive results taking both the pole position in ANZ Champs and qualifying for EPL Season 12 has led to them leapfrogging Avant. Now we need to see if they can keep up this performance throughout MDL Finals and Dreamhack qualifiers to have a solid sendoff into the player break.”

- GeordieMacMcAleer

Recent Results:

  • 2:0 vs Bantz (MDL S34)
  • 3:1 Avant (EPL S12 Qual)
  • 2:0 Chiefs (EPL S12 Qual)
  • 1:2 Avant (EPL S12 Qual)

Active Roster: aliStair, Rickeh, USTILO, Valiance and J1rah

3. Avant (-1)

“Avant have been a team long in contention for the top spots in the region. Solid results against pretty much everyone except Renegades keeps them heading towards the top of the heap. However, the recent removal of Chris "ofnu" Hanley resulted in coach Kingfisher having to jump in the server with the boys, Avant look a little less stable. Much is riding on who their 5th will be as we head towards the player break.”

- Tim “Brainstormcasts” Dunne

Recent Results:

  • 2:0 vs Paradox (MDL 34)
  • 1:3 vs ORDER (EPL S12 Qual)
  • 2:1 vs ORDER (EPL S12 Qual)
  • 2:0 vs Chiefs (EPL S12 Qual)

Active Roster: BL1TZ, HaZR, ap0c, strerl1ng and TBA

4. Paradox (+3)

“Paradox have sustained a string of good form recently, continuing the traditional role (long-held by Legacy in years past) of the 4th placed team in our region – beat everyone else, and put up a fight against the top 3. Paradox currently sit in the upper bracket of LPL and MDL, and the lower bracket of ESL AUNZ Champs – good spots to be for the remainder of each respective season, but with some tough opponents on the horizon. Keep an eye on Paradox over their next few series, in particular against Avant on the 7th, it’s a chance for redemption after Avant beat them 2-0 in ESL AUNZ recently.”

- Tim “Brainstormcasts” Dunne

Recent Results:

  • 0:2 vs Avant (ESL AUNZ S11)
  • 2:0 vs Mako (LPL Pro League S5)
  • 2:0 vs Bantz (ESL AUNZ S11)
  • 16-6 vs really weird (MDL S34)

Active Roster: dangeR, rbz, ekul, versa and bedonka

5. Chiefs ESC (-1)

“The boys in blue have got a new roster and I’m liking the signs so far. We haven’t had a full chance to see Declan “Vexite” Portelli shine as of yet, but with Yaman “Yam” Ergenekon filling in for the boys, we’ve seen some great things so far. I really look forward to watching this roster settle, but for now they’ve got some competition round the bend.”

- Mitch “ConkyOCE” Concanen

Recent Results:

  • 0:2 vs ORDER (EPL S12 Qual)
  • 2:0 vs Paradox (EPL S12 Qual)
  • 2:0 vs Ground Zero (EPL S12 Qual)
  • 0:2 Avant (EPL S12 Qual)

Active Roster: soju_j, HUGHMUNGUS, apocdud, zeph and vexite

6. Rooster (-)

“It’s a bit of a tricky 4/5/6 at the moment with Paradox, Chiefs & Rooster all firing pretty hard right now. Rooster are still looking the goods across MDL & LPL, with victory a possibility in both. Corey “Nettik” Browne’s squad are within reach of taking down the giants in the Top 3, but just need a little more time in the oven.”

- Mitch “ConkyOCE” Concanen

Recent Results:

  • 2:0 vs TWA (LPL Pro League S5)
  • 16-8 vs PC419 (MDL S34)
  • 2:1 vs Ground Zero (ESL AUNZ S11)
  • 17-19 vs Avant (MDL S34)

Active Roster: chelleos, ADK, DannyG, nettik and ASAP

7. Ground Zero (-2)

“The western roller coaster continues, as Ground Zero continue their gradual decline, struggling to string together back to back series wins against the competition they've been expected to beat (at least over the course of the year). The pressure to succeed will continue to mount, as they face the start of MDL finals against their close rivals, Rooster, followed up by a difficult match-up versing the lower of Avant vs. Paradox for ANZ Champs.”

- Matt "MattyB" Bowerman

Recent Results:

  • 2:0 vs Downfall (ESL AUNZ S11)
  • 1:2 vs Rooster (ESL AUNZ S11)
  • 8-16 vs Paradox (MDL S34)
  • 0:2 vs Chiefs (EPL S12 Qual)

Active Roster: bURNRUOk, PEARS, Llamas, Noobster and Liki

8. TWA (-)

“The truckers keep chugging along, but is that enough? After the departure of Brace, and the return of pan1k, there was a lot of excitement amongst the scene after their 2:0 upset over Renegades. Since then it's been rather bleak for the truckers, only recently stringing together some best of 1 wins against teams they're expected to dispatch of.
We'll get a real taste of where these guys are heading into an upper bracket match-up against Rooster for ANZ Champs, and a spicy MDL finals opener versing The Chiefs.”

- Matt "MattyB" Bowerman

Recent Results:

  • 2:0 vs Rooster (LPL Pro League S5)
  • 16-14 vs Mako (MDL S34)
  • 2:1 vs Downfall (ESL AUNZ S11)
  • 16-9 vs Overt (MDL S34)

Active Roster: pz, smooth_crim, JD, pan1K and swede

9.  Bantz (new)

“Toby "Brace" Barnes has returned home. Whilst losing out recently to Paradox in the LPL Season and being knocked in the lower bracket, Bantz did put up a strong showing. Additionally, taking Paradox into overtime on their own map pick of Mirage should do wonders for the morale of the team. These guys are always the team that draws a fun crowd and lift up the energy around them. Bantz have made it into the MDL Top 8 playoffs, where I hope to seem them do very well.”

- Dion “Komodo” Pirotta

Recent Results:

  • 0:2 vs ORDER (MDL S34)
  • 0:2 vs Paradox (ESL AUNZ S11)
  • 16-4 vs really weird (MDL S34)
  • 9-16 vs Skyfire (MDL S34)

Active Roster: Brace, Roflko, Motion, Addict and TBA

10. Incept (-)

“A bit of time has passed since Jordan "Skullhunter" Newland has joined the roster, and I will say, Incept have stepped up a bit. It was great to see them get a close scoreline against Skyfire, and most importantly ORDER, in the MDL season. I feel like this team will only get stronger as time goes on.
Losing to Paradox does mean that the team has some areas for improvement, as do all teams. But I think if Incept wants to grow and be more competitive, they need to start bringing the matches closer, if not topple, the teams higher on the list.”

- Dion “Komodo” Pirotta

Recent Results:

  • 16-13 vs Overt (MDL S34)
  • 4-16 vs Paradox (MDL S34)
  • 14-16 vs Skyfire (MDL S34)
  • 19-16 vs PC419 (MDL S34)

Active Roster: SkulL, yourwombat, nibke, Rev and micalis
